Headlines June 2:
-Another round of HEAT WARNINGS for Southern MB this weekend. Humidex values reaching 38 are expected over the next three days.
-Thousands of health-care workers could go on strike in two weeks as the MB Assoc of Health Care Professionals (MAHCP) issued a strike deadline for 6,500 who have been without a collective agreement for 5 years. A strike will begin at 8 a.m. on June 15.
-Blue Bombers receiver Kenny Lawler placed on the suspended list “pending resolution of matters related to his 2021 off-field incident.”
-Air Canada says its communicator system has stabilized after technical problems Thursday, but travelers are still expected to face delays and cancellations before it is back fully up and running.
-‘Business would be over’: Canada’s news publishers say ban by Google & FB would devastate them ending the small news businesses. Meta will block news for some Canadians in a test expected to last a month. The company says it wants to work out the kinks before permanently blocking news when the Liberal government’s new online content act becomes law. THIS is what happened in Austrailia, and is NOW being tested in Canada. Soon it will come here.
