-A serious collision at same intersection where tragedy claimed 17 lives. 3 people suffered serious injuries Monday afternoon in a 3-vehicle collision at Carberry. Police say 2 of the 3 injured people were taken to what they described as “a local hospital,” while a 3rd — a woman in her 40s — was taken by STARS air ambulance to HSC in Winnipeg in critical condition, according to a STARS spokesperson.
-MB Liquor & Lotteries closing 6 Liquor Mart locations in Winnipeg and one in Brandon for 24 hrs & locking out unionized employees as a labour dispute drags on.
-Some Canadian truckers told not to report for work. The apparent shutdown of one of the biggest trucking companies in the U.S. is having an impact north of the border, with the union for over 100 affiliated Canadian truckers claiming they’ve been told not to report for work.
-Multiple incidents reported on opening weekend of World Police and Fire Games. Winnipeg police responded to 2 incidents related to the games, and a third involving one of its participants over the last several days.
-A new laser clinic will be opening in the city, at 904-13th Street, Happy Skin Laser + Aesthetic Clinic will be holding an open house on Tuesday, Aug 8.
-Tonight’s US Mega-Millions jackpot has surged to an estimated US $1.05 billion (C$1.38 billion) after no ticket matched all six numbers during Friday night’s draw.
-SEASON TWO is underway! Closer to home, the Dairy Isle in Minnedosa gets new owners! Zac Easton and his wife Cass are the new owners of the Dari Isle Drive-In in Minnedosa, MB. They serve up smash burgers with all-beef, no-filler patties made fresh (never frozen) daily, a newly renovated dining room, curds in the poutine and the iconic FAT BOY burger, a Manitoba staple. The Original Dari Isle Drive In opened in 1965!
