-BPS investigating a break-in at the City of Brandon’s compound on McGregor Wed. Suspects stole 2 Milwaukee power drills, 2 impact drills, plus batteries for the tools.

-Brandon marks 1st in-person Canadian citizenship ceremony in almost 4 years. 45 people from 11 countries took oaths Thursday.

-2 Brandon families have moved into their new Habitat Manitoba homes. Since 2014 the Brandon Chapter has built 17 homes for low-income working families.

-Vandalism, social posts, shooting among potentially hate-motivated as Police also issue a plea to demonstrators in Wpg; ask to consider moving their events to avoid a drain on police resources.

-MB Chamber president believes Jets can overcome attendance woes, after drawing 11K fans Tuesday vs St. Louis, the lowest attendance without covid restrictions since coming from Atlanta. Last night the Jets down Red Wings 4-1. Wheat Kings beat Moose Jaw 4-3 in front of 2K at the Keystone Centre.

WOAH BABY! A Cambridge, Ont family is welcoming home a chubby newborn weighing 14 pounds eight ounces. Ayres, who was delivered via caesarean section, is the biggest baby born at Cambridge Memorial Hospital since 2010, the year the hospital started keeping track of that data. Parents Chance and Britteney Ayres said they knew he was going to be a large baby but was surprised when she saw his actual weight. He was born 14.5 pounds! Sonny is the couple’s fifth child.

Small crowds at games and now GAMBLING. The NHL suspended Ottawa Senators forward Shane Pinto for 41 games Thursday, making the 22-year-old the first hockey player banned for sports gambling. But the whole story is really short on details, and fans are upset, as they’re bombarded with ads for gambling. The league said the half-season ban was for “activities relating to sports wagering” and that its investigation found no evidence Pinto bet on NHL games. It did not release other details, including what Pinto did or how he was caught.
