FOOD BANK-CASH vs Cans. The winner: CASH. When you donate cash, Food Banks are able to purchase food in large quantities at wholesale rates. They spend time researching and negotiating with distributors to find the best deal on canned fruits, veggies, and protein – ensuring we get the best value per dollar spent. Think about how much it costs you to purchase enough food for a meal in a grocery store. Or even how much it costs to purchase 5 cans of beans to donate to the food bank. With their purchasing power combined with industry food donations, every $1 you donate provides food for 2 whole meals to a hungry neighbour. Last year we raised $400 for our local Food Bank (Samaritan House Food Bank) after a shortage of Bugles had customers running south of the border for supply. This year we’ve been on the lookout for the next big Christmas shortage. Since that time Bugles are sold by many Canadian retailers who have cut side deals with American suppliers, so Canadian customers can get their snacks. So what is in short supply this holiday season?

DeJay Downey, a DJ from Los Angeles posted a video on her TikTok page which has been viewed 37.4 million times, where she was filmed spotting a Black Friday price tag on a 75″ inch Samsung TV – marked at $649.99, but after sliding the Black Friday price out of the sign holder, another sale tag was unveiled, informing that the TV was priced at $649.99.
