Field of Dreams in WESTMAN. A small hamlet with fewer than 70 residents brought 1989 to life by creating a ‘Field of Dreams’ in their cornfield when farmer Joe Gardiner and friends built a 10-acre ballpark, and Mother Nature blessed them with perfect weather to make their dream a reality. Gardiner joked that no one had ever been “crazy enough” to attempt this before, but with the help of Darcy Stewart’s land, they pulled it off. The community’s Field of Dreams event drew 800 spectators and raised over $60,000, leaving everyone with smiles and happy hearts.
