The CONSUMER CARBON TAX is GONE TODAY! Will that mean cheaper food? No, but it will mean cheaper gas, at least in the short term. The tax was eliminated for consumers on April 1, lowering gas prices by 17.6 cents per litre and cutting natural gas costs, but the industrial tax remains. While consumers will see immediate savings at the pump and on home heating, low-income families may feel the loss of the carbon rebate.
Hooters has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. It plans to sell its 100 company-owned locations to franchisee groups in Tampa and Chicago. The brand, facing financial struggles and lawsuits, may close some locations while reorganizing under new ownership, including its original founders. CEO Neil Kiefer emphasized the buyout will help Hooters return to its roots.
