Leons Headlines March 19: Police in MB & Nova Scotia arrest 2 teenage boys after an international tip revealed they were allegedly planning coordinated attacks at their respective schools, leading to the seizure of electronic devices, weapons & detailed plans.

March 13. Interpol and the FBI tipped off Police in both provinces.

March 16. RCMP arrested a 14-year-old Rivers male on his school bus; his phone and electronic devices were seized; including 2 firearms at another residence.

March 17. The 15-year-old Nova Scotia youth was arrested. Handwritten plans, imitation weapons, a roughly made imitation pipe bomb and an assault rifle, and hate symbols were seized.

Both individuals have been charged with multiple offenses and RCMP continue their investigation and say more charge are pending.

-A shortage of paramedics in southwestern MB has led to long rural wait times & increased burnout, with staffing levels down by 25 full-time positions since 2023.

-Brandon City Council approves a 6-storey, 120-unit residential development in the 2900 block on Vic Ave, one of the first buildings of its kind in the city in years.

-The World Happiness Report 2026 found heavy social media use linked to declining well-being, especially teenage girls, in countries like Canada, while Finland remains the world’s happiest nation for the ninth straight year; US is 23rd, Canada 25th and Britain 29th.
