-Thursday’s Dust Storm hammered the area with 70-90 km/h winds & gusts up to 113+ km/h causing broken tree branches, fallen trees, power outages, damaged roofs & fences & blowing dust that reduced visibility on farms & highway travel.
-Widespread power outages are still affecting Westman as MB Hydro paused restoration work overnight due to unsafe low-visibility conditions, including Souris, Wawanesa, Killarney, Elgin, Virden and the Parkland region. WESTMAN’s “Dirt Blizzard”. A major dirt storm swept through Westman, reducing visibility and causing hazardous travel conditions. The event was severe enough to shut down airports and delay flights from Edmonton to Winnipeg.
