Leons Headlines July 5: STARS air ambulance responded to a 2-vehicle collision Wednesday on the #1 east of Carberry; a 46yr old Austin man was taken to hospital in serious condition after a collision at the intersection with Hwy 351 when a pickup truck rear-ended a fertilizer truck. The driver of the fertilizer truck reported no injuries.
-The emergency dept at the Carberry Health Centre will be closed for 7 days in a row starting next week, following 14 days of no service in June & previous shutdown of the ER for eight months.
-One school division in MB is banning cell phones from the classroom this Fall. The Hanover SD announced it is implementing a “cell phone-free learning environment” at all K-8 schools beginning in September.
-Manitobans will soon be able to buy booze along with their Slurpees. 7-11 Canada announced it will add beer, wine, cider & ready-to-drink beverages to the menu, the first at 3031 Ness Ave in Wpg’s Sturgeon Creek.
