Leons Headlines Nov 15: Canada Post workers went on strike early Friday after failing to reach a negotiated agreement, Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) says approximately 55K are striking.
-BPS reports a 2% drop in crime this year, with property crimes making up nearly half of violations. So far this year 5931 violations were recorded by the department as of October, compared to 6030 last year.
-City of Brandon launches the Brandon Immigration Initiative, to address skilled labor shortages and boost investment.
-Manitoba is investing $47 million to upgrade Rivers Dam, with completion expected in 2027.

NO MAIL as CANADA POST goes on strike. The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has launched a nationwide strike after failing to reach an agreement with Canada Post by Friday. As a result, Canadians will face delays in receiving mail, with some exceptions for postage already in the system.
Gas Prices on the Rise. Several SunSeekers reported seeing gas close to 1.35 Friday morning, a 10+ cent jump for many. While some stations have the more expensive price listed, others are still at the old price and can be easily checked at gasbuddy.com or on google.

Taylor Swift kicked off the Canadian leg of her Eras Tour in Toronto Thursday. Nearly three-and-a-half-hour set with costume changes and a 45-song lineup, including hits like “Cruel Summer” and “I Knew You Were Trouble.” The sold-out show, filled with excited fans from around the world, featured surprise songs, a special dedication to Canada for her Folklore album, and a playful reference to her boyfriend, NFL player Travis Kelce, in the closing song “Karma.”

Incredible, as a Georgia Mom is arrested for letting her son walk a 1/2 mile to the store. While she didn’t know he had done that, having a 10 year old venture out near a town of 400 seems odd.
