BC IS GETTING HAMMERED TOO. A “bomb cyclone” with wind gusts up to 160 km/h hit B.C.’s South Coast, causing power outages for over 180,000 people and multiple highway closures Tuesday night. Nine students on Vancouver Island had to shelter in a school after downed power lines cut off bus routes, but they were safely reunited with their families later that night. Environment Canada issued wind warnings for the entire coast, describing the storm as unusually powerful, with pressure drops comparable to a Category 3 or 4 hurricane.
