Another Winter Wallop-No Mail for Christmas

Leons Headlines Dec 9: A Sunday winter storm closed some highways in MB & kept some buses from running, for a second time this fall. 20 cm of snow, freezing rain & strong winds caused hazardous conditions with light snow expected to continue until Wednesday. No Mail for Christmas. With no end in sight to the Canada Post strike and just two weeks to Christmas, the season is wrapped as far as mail goes. Even if it were to miraculously end today, they can’t catch up. The time it takes Canada Post to catch up and clear the backlog would historically, take 2 to 3 days of work per strike day to clear the backlog. For a 25-day strike, this would translate to approximately 50 to 75 days to fully catch up, assuming standard operations. If Canada Post employs extra workers, extends working hours, or prioritizes specific types of mail, this timeline could shorten.
