-Safety assessment complete, 18th street is open after Brandon train derailment Thurs morning closing a section of 18th.
-Brandon’s ‘Alternative Choice Garden Centre’ has won the 2023 ‘Canadian Garden Centre of Distinction Award’ from the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association, a first for MB. Alternative was also named the Manitoba Garden Centre of the year for 2023.
-City of Brandon is hosting an input session on the future of Brandon’s Community Sportsplex Wed, Aug 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the arena space at the Sportsplex. In addition; an online survey is at brandon.ca.
-As the Strike by Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries workers drags on all Brandon stores will close this weekend. A Rural Manitoba liquor vendor says he may run out of stock by this weekend due to strike. Private liquor vendor in Lac du Bonnet says he may be out of inventory by this weekend thanks to the ongoing Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries strike.

Congratulations Alternative Choice Garden Centre! They announced yesterday that Alternative Choice Garden Centre won the Canadian Garden Centre of Distinction Award for 2023. This award is for retail garden centres who have a high standard of growing teams through training and career advancement, encouraging and promoting gardening as a hobby through public engagement, use technology to enhance growing practices, and are active in their community. In addition to being named a national award winner, Alternative Choice Garden Centre was also named the Manitoba Garden Centre of the year for 2023. Alternative Choice Garden Centre is the first Manitoba winner of this prestigious award!
